Kozhikode: Ernakulam district has bagged the first gold at the ongoing State School Sports Meet 2016 being held in Thenjipalam in Malappuram district.
Bibin George of Kothamangalam Mar Basil School came first in the senior boys 5000m event.
Palakkad’s Babitha and Mar Basil’s Anumol Thambi won gold and silver respectively in the 3000-metre race in senior girls’ category. Both of them broke the national record in the event.
