MP Minister assaulted, detained in Bengaluru: Congress

Bengaluru:  The Congress on Wednesday accused Karnataka police of assaulting a minister of Kamal Nath government.

Jitu Patwari was in Bangaluru in order to reach out to dissenting lawmakers staying at a resort here.

As well as failing in his efforts to contact them, the minister, according to Congress spokesperson Vivek Tankha, was assaulted and detained in Bagaluru

The minister however was released alongside ten others after a brief preventive custody.

Patwari reportedly met Congress leader in Karnataka DK Shivakumar in an effort to reach out to the rebel lawmakers.
