U.S. Secretary of Defense cancelled his visit to India

New Delhi: Just as more cases of COVID 19 emerged, US U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper cancelled his visit to India.

Esper was due to visit New Delhi on March 15 and 16, and his stopovers included Pakistan and Uzbekistan as well.

Esper’s proposed visit, close on the heels on the US President’s India trip, was diplomatically an important one.

The two countries would have dialogue on Af-Pak situation and expansion of defence partnership based on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-President Donald Trump summit, according to a report in The Economic Times.
