Delhi Police fired in air in self-defence during CAA protests, say sources

New Delhi: An internal probe shows that police fired a few shots in the air during the violence related to the protest against CAA at Mathura Road in Delhi  on December 15.

This is contrary to the earlier claims by the police that not a single bullet was fired during the violence.

The probe reveals that the police fired in self-defence after protesters resorted to "vandalism and arson".

Also, the police maintained that nobody was shot when the anti-CAA protests turned violent.

Several students and the police personnel sustained injuries in the clash between protesters and cops on December 15.
