2 Accused of Babri Masjid Demolition named in the Ram Mandir Trust

New Delhi: Raising many brows, the two accused in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case—Mahant Nritya Gopal Das and Champat Rai—were given top posts in the trust that would construct Ram Mandir.

Earlier when the names of trust came out, the duo were not included in it enraging VHP, which, according to reports, agitated for their inclusion.

The reason for their non-inclusion was reportedly because they were accused in the ongoing trial of Babri Masjid demolition case and the authorities feared a legal challenge.

The criminal case on the demolition of the mosque has been through delays and legal challenges.

This case is distinct from the title dispute which the Supreme Court settled last year.
