No New Engineering Colleges For 2 Years: AICTE

New DelhiAs fifty percent seats remain vacant in many institutes, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has barred opening of new engineering colleges for two years.

The expert committee headed by IIT Hyderabad Chairman B V R Mohan Reddy suggested the ban.

The decision comes in the wake of increasing concern about poor employability of engineering graduates in the country.

Only last year Lok Sabha heard about AICTE’s plan to forgo conventional disciplines with poor employability from 2020-21.
