No one will be excluded in the fight to save constitution: Yechury

New Delhi: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said that no groups would be excluded in the fight to save the constitution and like-minded groups will be taken along.  He also pointed out how Muslim Students Federation (MSF) joined the left parties in protests and activities at University of Hyderabad (UoH) in a statement implying that Muslim League cannot be described as a communal organisation and kept out of joint struggles.

Yechury was delivering CH Mohammed Koya memorial lecture hosted by Kerala Muslim Culture Centre at New Delhi Constitution Club.

The CPM leader elaborated that though MSF worked along with the left parties at UoH, non-inclusion of the party might be owing to disputes in seat sharing formula.  Paying tribues t CH, Yechury said his  life inspires us to come forward to protect the democratic and secular values of the country.

Modi government has paved the way for Hindutwa politics by crushing Jammu Kashmir, which was the only state to have Muslim majority.  All government statements on Kashmir are lies.  NRC implemented in Assam is also based on religion. Though the Hindus, Sikhs, Budhists and Jains who are excluded from the list are guaranteed citizenship,  Muslims and Christians are excluded from it.

It is said that citizenship register will be extended to other regions too using 1951  as the base year.  In the enumeration, it is said that like doubtful voter (D-Voter) in Assam, doubtful citizens will also be marked. Yechury said religion is being made the basis for everything and the country is witnessing deep communal polarisation.

Adv. Haris Beeran presided over the function.  Karnataka MLA NA Haris, Muslim League national secretary Qurram Anees Omer, Journalist Jomy Thomas and Salil Chembayil also spoke.
