Rajasthan CM busy saving chair, setting shop for son: BJP

Jaipur: Amid the by-elections to two Assembly seats in Rajasthan, BJP state chief Satish Poonia came down heavily on Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday.

Poonia accused Gehlot of focussing solely on establishing his son's career by ignoring all other challenges being faced by the state, including lawlessness and unemployment, which were touching new heights in Rajasthan under his rule.

Addressing a press conference in Jodhpur, Poonia said, "Gehlot is working only on two goals -- to save his chair and to open a shop for his son."

The BJP leader said that while the unemployed youth in the state are reeling under stress, the Chief Minister successfully secured a decent job for his son in the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

Poonia further said that Gehlot has made a circus of the civic elections by making constant changes due the fear of losing the polls. Now, the Chief Minister is also trying to push his son for the Mayor's position, but the public will give a befitting reply to such efforts, he added.

Infighting in the Congress has intensified over the civic elections, he said, adding that now even the Deputy Chief Minister and other ministers have come out openly against the state government's decisions.

Poonia also said that there was no dispute in the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"The Chief Minister has been raising the issue of clash within the BJP, but there is no such issue in the party," he said.
