New Delhi: Labour outfits including BJP’s arm BMS came out in the open against the proposed labour law reforms, while deciding to furnish alternative suggestions.
The Centre yesterday published the draft labour codes causing protest from labour unions, while setting deadline for suggestions by December 1.
Meanwhile, leaders of labour outfits including BJP’s BMS sat together to decide finalizing alternative draft.
The main complaints against the draft is that it is silent over number of working hours, it is reticent about certain clauses which were distinct in the merged four laws regarding wages.
Minimum work hours should be six, and there are issues regarding minimum wages.
The draft doesn’t consider the promoting of unskilled labourers to semi-skilled and skilled positions. However, this happens in all work places.
Starting off as unskilled, workers come by skills becoming experts overtime. Union has no representation on the panel deciding wages. There should be distinct definition of wages.
The parliament passed the Bill-2019 regarding wages in August. The new Bill annulled four laws regarding minimum wage, wage distribution, bonus distribution and equal pay.
