No unauthorized interception by govt, says RS Prasad

New Delhi:   Information Technology minister  Ravi Shanker Prasad told Rajya Sabha today denied any “unauthorised interception" by the government using the Pegasus spyware.

He was responding to the discussion underway in the house on the WhatsApp surveillance controversy.

 The government is committed to the digital security of Indians, he said, and added that the government is working towards making messaging platforms more secure for users in the country.

 Prasad also denied the allegations that the Israeli spyware maker had met Union home minister Amit Shah.

He further stressed that all electronic interception of communications in the nation followed a standard operating procedure.
