New Delhi: Indian National Congress will send former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. The decision came after talks between Congress and its ally Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for a Rajya Sabha berth reportedly failed.
The DMK on Tuesday named candidates for three seats in Tamil Nadu, giving one of the seats to ally V Gopalasamy or Vaiko or Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Vacancy of one seat arose following the death of Rajya Sabha MP Madan Lal Saini of Rajasthan.
Congress sources said that only if Manmohan Singh expresses his willingness to go to the Rajya Sabha, then the party will field him from Rajasthan.
