Congress Will Split Within 24 Hours Under Non-Gandhi Chief: Natwar Singh

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Natwar Singh on Sunday urged Priyanka Vadra to take up the post of the party president, unless—according to him—the party would face a split under a non-Gandhi president.

He praised Priyanka for visiting Sonbhadra where she was taken into preventive custody and stopped from meeting the families of 10 Gond tribals.

Singh hoped that Gandhi family would have to reverse its decision of having somebody outside the family as the president.

Following Rahul Gandhi's resignation as party chief, voices within the party have been urging Priyanka to lead the party.
