Little chance for third front before polls: Prakash Karat

Kuwait city: CPM wouldn’t take initiate in forming the third front in the upcoming parliamentary polls, CPM politburo member Prakash karat said on Thursday.

Talking to press, former CPM general secretary said the party would instead try to form alliance of provincial parties.

BJP is on the wane in its turfs, and has little chance to garner majority. In some states the Congress has no strength. The general polls will be contested at the state-level.

However, the Congress is still the major rival of BJP at the national level. As for supporting Congress post poll, the decision would be taken considering the situation.

CPM was not against allowing reservation for economically backward sections in the upper castes. Ensuring small percentage of reservation wouldn’t cause caste divide.

However, BJP had the bill passed hastily for political gains, despite the fact that it would be challenged in the court, he said.

CPIM leader said the party didn’t take seriously BJP’s threat to dismiss the Kerala government.

Executing such moves that comes under article 356 of Constitution would not be easy as they are bound to the scrutiny of court.

BJP’s attempt to gain votes misinforming devotees wouldn’t work, he said.
