P Chidambaram gets bail from SC after 106 days in custody

 

New Delhi: After spending 160 days in custody, Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram gets relief as the Supreme Court grants him bail on a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh with two sureties.

He was arrested by CBI on August 21. After 58 days of custody, the SC had granted him bail in the CBI case on October 22.

However, he was arrested again by ED on October 17, and has since been under custody .

The apex courted directed him not to leave the country without prior permission of the court, and not to try to influence the witnesses or tamper with evidence.

A three-judge bench restrained the 74-year-old Congress leader from giving any press interview or making any statements as regards the case.
