PM summons top CBI officials amid infighting

New Delhi: PM Modi on Monday summoned CBI Director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana in the thick of the continuing infighting in the investigation agency.

CBI has booked Asthana in a bribery case relating to Moin Qureshi graft case.  Asthana in return had complained to the Central Vigilance Commission that his boss Verma was trying to frame him.

The document that CBI released on Sunday stated that an FIR had been filed against Asthana.

Taking matters to fore, CBI on Monday nabbed Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Kumar(SIT) in connection with bribery allegations.  Kumar earlier had led a probe team in the case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi.

PM’s summoning of the top official comes in the wake of unseemly developments in the premier investigation agency.
