New Delhi: The Congress has withdrawn from the impeachment proceedings against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
Mallikarjun Garge, leader of the party in Loksabha, revealed the decision to abandon the move during an interview to a national daily. He also made it clear that all controversies regarding the issue were now closed.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, leader of the party in Rajyasabha had been requesting support of other opposition leaders for an impeachment motion. Later the party pulled back from the move.
Lack of support from Trinamool Congress and DMK are known to be the reasons for withdrawal. Both the parties had not signed the impeachment motion.
