50 children fall ill after consuming de-worming tablet

Mathura: Over 50 school children fell ill after they were administered de-worming tablet Albendazole as part of a nationwide drive in different parts of Mathura Tuesday.

"The children were given Albendazole by the teachers of their schools who had been given training for it," Chief Medical Officer R K Nayyar said.

He said the first complaint was received from Gulab Memorial School in Nagla Chandra Bhan where over three dozen children complained of stomach ache and vomiting, while the second complaint was received from Barauli Primary School where two dozen children developed similar complications.

"Owing to prompt medical treatment, all the children were cured and discharged from hospital," he said.
