New Delhi: ‘India first’ is the only religion of the government and the Constitution its only scripture,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday during a discussion in the Lok Sabha on commitment to the Constitution as part of 125th birth anniversary celebrations of B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution.
Constitution has the power to bind and promote entire diversity that India represents, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the Lok Sabha on Friday.
Nobody can say previous governments have not contributed to the development of the nation, Mr. Modi said.
We should work more through consensus than majority-minority, Mr. Modi added.
Praising Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for her speech during the special sitting of the House to discuss commitment to the Constitution, Mr. Modi said, “I believe your speech will be an inspirational document in parliamentary history. I congratulate you”.
