Jharkhand: Three bogies of Palamu Express derail after Maoists blow up track

Jharkhand: Three bogies of Patna bound Palamu Express derailed as suspected Maoists blew up a train track in Latehaar district, Jharkhand, said TV reports.

The engine and three coaches of the train going from Barkakana to Patna jumped the rails following the blast, said Chhipadohar railway station master R P Bhagotia.

Talking to NDTV, the Palamu station master said that the derailment of the train took place at a remote area and that a relief train had been sent.

However, there was no casualty or injury to any passenger due to the derailment, said Deputy Inspector General of Police (Palamau Range) Saket Kumar Singh.

The station master said the blast occurred around 8 pm near Kuchila village between Chhipadohar and Barwadih stations.

The CPI(Maoist) is observing a 24-hour bandh on Tuesday in Bihar and Jharkhand to protest against the gunning down of their cadres in Palamau district on 9 June.
