Ministers wielding brooms not symbolic: Prasad

New Delhi: Ministers wielding brooms is not symbolism but a commitment towards the government's ambitious clean India campaign, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said Friday.

He launched cleanliness drive at Shastri Bhawan compound as part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Talking to reporters, he said ministers wielding broom sticks is "not symbolic, but a commitment to make Clean India a mass movement."

He was asked why ministers are cleaning up public places which are cleaned before they arrive for the function.

He said as part of his campaign to carry forward Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, he will be leading a cleaning programme at Patna Railway Station on October 2.
