UAE: Social media users to face legal action for content violations

The Federal Public Prosecution will prosecute a group of social media users for violating media content standards, the National Media Office (NMO) announced on Tuesday, August 26.

The authority said an investigation was launched after unconstructive content was detected online. It added that social platforms are monitored around the clock to identify violations.

Officials noted that the measures aim to maintain a responsible media environment and protect the public from harmful content. Residents were reminded to respect media values and comply with platform regulations.

In March, the NMO had urged users to follow principles of respect, tolerance and coexistence. At the time, it warned that legal action would be taken against anyone found breaking these rules.
