The announcement follows a separate order by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who approved the release of 2,937 inmates from correctional institutions across the country. He also pledged to settle the financial penalties owed by those included in the pardon.

In Ajman, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi ordered the release of 225 inmates. In Fujairah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi authorised the release of 129 inmates who had demonstrated good behaviour and completed a significant portion of their sentences.

Sharjah’s Ruler, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, instructed the release of 366 prisoners from the Sharjah Punitive and Correctional Institution. Officials said the decision aligns with pardon guidelines covering conduct, behaviour and time served.

Ras Al Khaimah’s Ruler, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, ordered the release of 854 inmates. The emirate’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, directed the judicial authorities and police to begin implementation.
