Ras Al Khaimah: As part of the UAE's stringent traffic laws, authorities in Ras Al Khaimah have reminded motorists about serious violations related to license plates. These offenses, which include fabricating or altering license plates, carry significant penalties, including potential jail time and fines starting at Dh20,000.
While traffic regulations in the UAE are enforced federally, each emirate has additional provisions and penalties to address localized issues. Ras Al Khaimah authorities have outlined key violations that could result in severe consequences for motorists.
Motorists are advised to avoid the following actions:
1. Manufacturing or imitating a license plate, or using a manufactured or imitated license plate.
2. Defacing, altering, or obliterating license plate information while it is being used.
3. Allowing someone to use a license plate knowing that it has been obliterated, defaced, or altered.
4. Transferring a license plate from one vehicle to another without obtaining necessary approvals from the Licensing Authority.
5. Installing a license plate, or assisting or facilitating its installation, in violation of the provisions of this Decree-Law and its Executive Regulations.
These violations, whether committed individually or in conjunction with others, are subject to strict enforcement measures.
Authorities have previously released a list of offenses that could result in vehicle impoundment.
Details of these infractions were shared earlier this year on Instagram with the caption: "Executive Council Resolution No. (2) of 2024 regarding some cases of vehicle seizure."
The crackdown on license plate-related violations in Ras Al Khaimah is part of the UAE's broader effort to maintain road safety and uphold the integrity of the traffic system.
Motorists are urged to ensure their vehicle documentation and license plates comply with the law to avoid penalties.
