UAE launches 'Al Freej Fridge' campaign to support outdoor workers

The UAE has implemented its annual midday break for construction and industrial workers to protect them from the summer heat. To further aid workers, the 'Al Freej Fridge' campaign has been launched to distribute cold water, juices and ice cream. The campaign aims to help one million workers, including cleaners, construction workers, delivery riders and agricultural workers, until August 23.

Supported by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation and Furjan Dubai, in cooperation with the UAE Water Aid Foundation and the UAE Food Bank, the campaign uses refrigerated vehicles to distribute refreshments across Dubai. Local volunteers participate in the effort, ensuring workers in outdoor areas receive necessary hydration and relief.

The initiative aims to mitigate health risks like dehydration and heat stress and promotes community participation and social responsibility.

Dr. Abdul Karim Sultan Al Olama, CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation said, “The humanitarian community campaign, 'Al Freej Fridge', reflects the values of giving and compassion inherent in the Dubai community, and the efforts of all its segments to contribute to charitable works, which consolidates the principle of social solidarity among different social segments.”

Alia Al Shamlan, Director of "Furjan Dubai", confirmed that the launch of the humanitarian community campaign reveals several humanitarian messages that express the culture of the Emirati society, its compassion, solidarity and the competition among its members to do good.
