Dubai: UAE attained a significant milestone, securing the 7th position globally and emerging as the top-ranked nation regionally in the Gender Balance Index 2024.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai expressed profound admiration for his daughter, Sheikha Manal Bint Mohammad, who spearheads the UAE Gender Balance initiative.
Sheikh Mohammed posted on his “X” account, “I am immensely proud of my daughter, Sheikha Manal Bint Mohammad and her exemplary and successful leadership of this national project. An outstanding team and achievement”.
Sheikha Manal, Chairperson of the Dubai Women Establishment, extended heartfelt congratulations to the country's wise leadership, particularly Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, The Mother of the Nation, for her unwavering support in advancing women's empowerment.
“The UAE’s ranking of seventh globally and first regionally in the Gender Equality Index 2024, issued by the United Nations Development Program, is a testament to the nation’s unwavering commitment to gender balance”, said Sheikha Manal in her X post.
In 2020, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum set a national goal to position the UAE among the top 25 countries in gender balance. Surpassing this target, the UAE has proudly emerged as a pioneer in gender balance, setting an exemplary model in the global arena.
Sheikha Manal expressed gratitude to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and the UAE Gender Balance Council team for their relentless efforts and unwavering support in achieving this significant milestone. She acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various federal and local entities, highlighting the collective commitment towards advancing gender equality in the UAE.
