Solution to all regional challenges is Arab unity: UAE

The UAE cabinet minister Khalifa Shaheen Almarar announced that the UAE has called for unity of the Arab world to meet regional challenges while addressing the Arab League's (AL) ministerial meetings.

The current pandemic situation needs more Arab-unified strength to overcome the health crisis and speed up the vaccine supply in the region, according to Almarar.

He clarified the UAE's stand on several matters such as the Palestinian issue, the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, external interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, and developments in Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Sudan and Syria.

The UAE also supports the Arab league's opinion on resolving Palestine and Israel's conflicts through a two-state solution. The minister reiterated that the illegal practices hindering the peace talks should be prevented, and the negotiations between the two states ought to begin again.

The Emirates condemned the continuous Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and its civilians as it proclaimed its stance in full solidarity with the Kingdom. Almarar said that UAE recommends Iran to negotiate on its occupied islands of Abu Mousa, Lesser Tunb and Greater Tunb.

Riyadh's agreement to resolve the Yemen crisis is welcomed by the GCC state. During the AL meeting, Almarar emphasized the need to ensure an active Arab role for a peaceful solution in Syria. He stated that a political solution is necessary for the Syrian conflict.

The UAE lauded the formation of the Executive Authority for Peace in Libya and reassured its compliance with other policies of the United Nations in this regard.

Meanwhile, Almarar observed the country's condemnation of foreign interference in Iraq's internal affairs and opposed any terrorist acts aimed to destabilize Iraq. The minister also appreciated and welcomed the US decision to withdraw Sudan from the list of terrorist states.

Almarar said the UAE is always in line to promote peace and tolerance amongst all countries in the world and will continue to work for the cause.
