Sheikh Mohamed, India FM discuss regional developments

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met India’s External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Abu Dhabi on Monday to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.

Dr Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and wishes for the UAE’s continued stability, while Sheikh Mohamed asked that his greetings be passed on to the Indian leader.

Talks focused on co-operation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, alongside efforts to expand ties in line with shared development priorities.

The meeting also covered developments in the Middle East and their impact on regional and international security, maritime routes, energy supplies and the global economy.

Both sides addressed recent attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure in the UAE and other countries in the region, with the Indian minister expressing support for measures taken by the UAE to protect its sovereignty and ensure public safety.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and a number of ministers and officials.
