Sharjah: The Sharjah Petroleum Council has disclosed the discovery of new gas reserves in the Hadiba field. This breakthrough was revealed following exploration efforts conducted by the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC).
The newly discovered gas reserves are situated north of the Al Saja'a field, adding to the Emirate's existing energy assets. Initial assessments suggest that the reserves are present in economically viable quantities, indicating their potential contribution to Sharjah's energy portfolio.
According to statements from the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the discovery marks a notable advancement in the region's exploration endeavours. The Hadiba field became the fifth onshore field in Sharjah, alongside existing fields such as Al-Saja'a, Kahif, Mahani, and Muayed (converted to a gas storage field).
Following the discovery, the next phase involves testing the well to confirm the quantities and assess the field's potential for development. This testing phase is crucial in determining the feasibility of extracting gas from the Hadiba field and its commercial viability.
With further testing and development initiatives, the Hadiba field holds the promise of playing a significant role in shaping the Emirate's energy landscape in the years ahead.
