Saudi sources deny role in Intercepting Iranian attacks on Israel

Riyadh: Informed sources have denied claims regarding Saudi Arabia's alleged involvement in intercepting Iranian drones during the attack on Israel over the weekend. Israeli news websites had circulated statements attributed to an official Saudi source, suggesting the Kingdom's participation in a defence coalition that confronted the Iranian assault.

However, sources informed Al Arabiya on Monday that no official Saudi website had released any statement regarding Saudi Arabia's role in intercepting attacks against Israel. This denial contradicts earlier reports indicating Saudi involvement in the recent defence efforts against Iranian aggression.

The Iranian attack was launched on Saturday evening into Sunday morning and involved the deployment of drones, missiles towards Israel. Tehran justified its actions as a response to various perceived crimes, including an earlier strike on its consulate in Damascus on April 1.

While Iranian authorities claimed that the attack targeted military installations, the Israeli army asserted that it successfully intercepted 99 per cent of the Iranian missiles, mitigating potential damage.
