Keralite's legacy in focus at 'Yaadom Ka Safar' book release in Sharjah Book Fair

Sharjah: This year's Sharjah International Book Fair witnessed a rare celebration of cultural exchange between the Arab world and the Indian state o Kerala, together with Kerala's heritage of Urdu and educational reform through the global release of a book "Yaadon Ka Safar: Journey of Memories" towards the fair’s close a week ago.

Nasser Akram, an Emirati researcher and media figure, shared insights into the significant role played by individuals like KTC Beeran from India in fostering strong Indo-Arab relations, particularly through the promotion of Arabic and Urdu languages. Beeran hailed from Chennamangalloor, in Kerala’s Kozhikode district. A man of many parts, the  late Beeran’s legacy in Indo-Arab frirendship, promotion of Urdu langauge and educational reform in Kerala, were held in focus.

The global realease of the book was done by Nasser Akram, who presented a copy to Zion Majed Al Mamri, manager, children’s activities at Sharjah International Book Fair.  The volume delves into the remarkable contributions of KTC Beeran, in areas of social reform and education. Beeran's revolutionary approach to Arabic and Urdu education transcended religious and caste boundaries as highlighted by Nasser Akram.

A key figure in the Emirati media landscape since the early 1990s, Nasser Akram also commended the enduring relations between India and the UAE.

Curated by editor KT Abdurabb, a Dubai-based media professional for over three decades, the book carries a compelling narrative of Beeran's life mission, including firsthand accounts from noted figures in Kerala’s socio-cultural and religious spheres like Dr. MP Abdusamad Samadani MP, ET Muhammad Basheer MP, CT Abdurahim, Hussain Madavoor, V.A Kabeer, O. Abdurahman, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Ashari, Dr. Ajmal Mueen, KP Velayudhan, and others.

"Yaadom Ka Safar: Journey of Memories," reflects Beeran’s contributions to his pet areas of education, language preservation, and social development. A key element of the book is Beeran's international experiences in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, which one could call expeditions and reflect his rare perspective and mission, besides his adventurous and enterprising search for fresh pastures.

The volume of tributes comprises over 45 articles.  The release event was attended by notables from the fields of writing, media, tourism industry and trading in the UAE and India.
