Entertainment: The makers of Aadu 3 have confirmed that the film will hit theatres on March 19, coinciding with Ramzan and the summer vacation, despite earlier uncertainty linked to tensions in the Middle East.
There had been speculation that the release date might be changed as the ongoing Middle East conflict created concerns about the situation in Gulf countries, a key overseas market for Malayalam cinema. However, after assessing that normal life continues in the Gulf region, the producers decided to proceed with the originally planned release.
The recently released trailer suggests that the third instalment of the popular franchise blends its trademark slapstick humour with fantasy elements. It also hints that the narrative unfolds across multiple timelines, presenting the story through different eras.
Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, the film features a large ensemble cast led by Jayasurya. The cast also includes Vinayakan, Indrans, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vijay Babu, Saiju Kurup, Sunny Wayne, Sudhi Koppa, Bhagat Manuel, Biju Kuttan, Nirmal Palazhi, Harikrishnan and Nobi.
The film has been shot over 127 days and is reportedly mounted on a budget of around ₹50 crore, making it one of the biggest productions in the history of Malayalam cinema.
Principal photography took place across multiple locations in Palakkad district, including Malampuzha, Walayar, Chittoor and Tiruchendur. Additional schedules were filmed in Idukki, Thodupuzha, Vagamon and Gopichettipalayam.
With several major releases lined up in the weeks following its launch, Aadu 3 is expected to open the festive box office season for Malayalam cinema.
