Indian schools in UAE adjust exams, delay new term

Several Indian curriculum schools in the UAE have adjusted assessment plans as the academic year draws to a close, with some shifting select exams online and others relying more heavily on cumulative performance records.

In Sharjah, the start of the new academic year has been postponed by one week. Schools that were due to reopen on Monday, March 23, will now resume classes on Monday, March 30, according to Indian school heads in the emirate.

Unlike most other curricula in the UAE, Indian schools complete their academic year after Term 3 examinations, with the new session typically beginning in April.

The recent decision by the UAE Ministry of Education to move the spring break to March 9-22 has brought the holiday period closer to Indian schools’ year-end schedule. School leaders said the revised dates help ease concerns about disruption during final assessments.
