Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways flight EY1 touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday, marking the inauguration of the airline's A380 double-decker service to New York. This milestone heralds the introduction of The Residence, a legendary three-room suite in the sky, promising passengers an unparalleled onboard experience.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Etihad Airways CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, said, "We're thrilled to introduce our A380 experience to New York, confident that our guests will relish the exceptional onboard journey."
The decision to introduce the A380 service on the New York route marks Etihad's strategic initiative to cater to the growing demand of travellers and expand its network. Just weeks ago, the airline launched a new route to Boston, its fourth gateway in the United States, further solidifying its presence in the North American market.
The addition of the A380 significantly improves Etihad's capacity in the crucial US market, facilitating convenient connections to the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.
With the introduction of the A380, Etihad aims to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers while providing them with a wider range of options. The availability of First, Business and Economy cabins on both the A380 and the 787-9 aircraft ensures that passengers can choose the level of comfort that best suits their preferences.
The increased capacity resulting from the A380 service will benefit travellers to New York and contribute to attracting a greater number of visitors to Abu Dhabi. As a key hub in the region, Abu Dhabi stands to gain from the enhanced connectivity facilitated by Etihad's expanded operations.
Etihad will operate two daily flights to New York, one with the A380 and the other serviced by a 787-9 aircraft.
