Dubai: Travelers are encouraged to allocate additional time for their journey and to stay vigilant by regularly checking for updates.
Several inbound flights to Dubai International Airport (DXB) were diverted overnight, while a significant number of arrivals and outbound flights faced cancellations due to the adverse weather conditions faced on May 2nd.
Passengers travelling to DXB are advised to allocate additional time for their journey to the airport, considering anticipated road congestion. The use of Dubai Metro is strongly encouraged for accessing Terminals 1 and 3 whenever feasible.
Emirates, the flagship carrier of the UAE, announced the cancellation of several flights due to adverse weather conditions across the region. Passengers affected by flight cancellations will be re-accommodated, with rebooking charges waived.
The following Emirates flights were cancelled on May 2:
- EK 123/124 – Dubai to Istanbul
- EK 763/764 – Dubai to Johannesburg
- EK 719/720 – Dubai to Nairobi
- Ek 921/922 – Dubai to Cairo
- EK 903/904 – Dubai to Amman
- EK 352/353 – Dubai to Singapore (EK353 departing May 3, 12:30 am UAE time)
Flydubai, another prominent airline based in Dubai, confirmed operational delays due to adverse weather conditions. Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journey to DXB and to stay updated through the manage booking tab on the flydubai website.
Sharjah-based Air Arabia advised passengers to plan for additional travel time to the airport and update their contact details to receive the latest flight updates. Etihad Airways recommended early check-ins for passengers using the Etihad bus service between Zayed International Airport and Dubai.
Indian airlines, including Vistara and SpiceJet, alerted passengers about flight disruptions to and from Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Flights are expected to be affected on Thursday and Friday due to the inclement weather.
