Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed significant traffic improvements on Umm Suqeim Street, opening a new road leading to Kings' School. The 500-meter street, consisting of two lanes in each direction, connects the school’s entrances to a newly constructed detour, significantly reducing traffic congestion.
The enhancement has cut vehicle congestion by up to 40% during peak hours, improving the entry and exit of school traffic. This development is part of RTA's quick traffic improvement plan 2024, which focuses on enhancing Dubai’s road network, easing traffic flow and expanding road capacity to accommodate the city's growth.
The project also improves safety standards, particularly for school transport. Spanning 4.6 km from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, the Umm Suqeim Street Improvement Project boosts connectivity between four major traffic corridors. It increases the street’s capacity by 30%, accommodating up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, according to Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency.
