Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson voiced his support for several policies of US President Donald Trump, including his stance on Gaza, Ukraine, and the reduction of US foreign aid.
"I think the world – on the whole – is better when America is strong and providing strong leadership. I think that is certainly what Donald Trump is capable of providing," Johnson said in a conversation with British journalist and CNN news anchor Richard Quest at the World Governments Summit in Dubai on Wednesday.
Johnson acknowledged the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing it as "an absolute tragedy."
"He stressed the war 'needs to end, and the suffering of the people of Gaza needs to end; the hostages need to come back. I think it's horrific the conditions in which those hostages have been held, and I think they all need to come back.'"
Johnson refrained from analyzing Trump’s plan regarding the possible relocation of Palestinians from Gaza.
"It's not for me to try to analyse what the President is suggesting with his plan (to relocate Palestinians from Gaza)."
However, he commented on his recent visit to Florida, noting its vast open spaces and suitability for settlement but dismissing any potential for relocation of Palestinians to the region.
"This is absolutely a fantastic place if you wanted to resettle millions of people from the Middle East. It's absolutely beautiful. There's lots of space here, but it's not going to happen because somebody else owns it. And Gaza is in law, owned and occupied by people who have a right to be there. So that is not going to happen."
Johnson’s comments highlight his continued engagement in global political discussions, aligning with Trump’s foreign policy vision while emphasizing the need for humanitarian resolutions in Gaza.
