Dubai to open first hospital specializing in digestive diseases

Dubai has initiated the construction of its first integrated hospital specializing in gastroenterology, marking the start of the Asan-Emirates Digestive Diseases Hospital project. The first international branch of one of the largest hospitals and healthcare centres in South Korea, Asan-Emirates Digestive Diseases Hospital is scheduled for completion by 2026.

The new hospital will span 21,150 square meters and feature nine floors, 65 beds, four operating rooms and luxury and VIP rooms.

The hospital will offer specialized treatment for digestive diseases, including obesity treatments, gastrointestinal oncology, liver transplant management, organ transplantation, endoscopy and digestive health screenings. Additional support facilities will include rehabilitation services, outpatient clinics, an intensive care unit and a day care unit.

The Asan-Emirates project will also serve as an educational centre for local specialists, benefiting from the expertise of the Korean medical team. This facility aims to enhance the UAE's capabilities in digestive health, gastrointestinal oncology, liver transplant management and lifestyle-related diseases.

Dr. Soo Sang Park, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon and Chief Financial Officer of Asan Hospital, said, “the hospital will offer minimally invasive and preventive procedures based on a multidisciplinary approach”.

The Asan-Emirates Digestive Diseases Hospital is a project by the Emirati company Scope Investment.

Awad Sagheer Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, highlighted Dubai's attractiveness for international hospitals and medical centres due to the emirate’s health sector developments, favourable investment climate and growing demand for high-quality health services.

Moon Byung-Jun, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, emphasized that establishing this branch outside Korea results from cooperation between Scope Investment and Dubai Healthcare City Authority, aiming to provide the best healthcare services to patients in the UAE, GCC countries and worldwide.
