Dubai RTA introduces back-to-school traffic safety plan

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a detailed traffic safety plan for the new academic year 2025–2026, starting Monday.

The plan includes traffic improvements around schools and awareness programs targeting students, parents and drivers. RTA said the initiative supports its strategy to promote safety in school zones.

RTA will resume four awareness programs tailored to different student groups. The “Golden Rules for Generations’ Safety” program will be held for middle school students. Kindergarten and primary students will take part in the “Hello, My School” program. High school students will join the “Virtual Driving Licence” program.

Educational gifts carrying QR codes linked to traffic safety instructions will be distributed to students. RTA will also support school events at the start of the year.

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said, “Our expanded back-to-school plan, developed in collaboration with Dubai Police, includes providing drivers and parents with proper guidance on safe practices when dropping off and picking up students”.

Parents will receive awareness gifts with safety tips. Student gifts will highlight safe street crossing and avoiding danger zones near school buses and family vehicles.
