Dubai Police launch AI traffic system to detect seatbelt, mobile phone violations

Dubai Police introduced an Intelligent Traffic System at GITEX Global 2025 that automatically detects multiple driving offences using artificial intelligence.

The unified digital platform analyses live traffic footage to identify five violations:

  • not wearing seatbelts
  • using mobile phones while driving
  • obstructing traffic flow
  • stopping without reason
  • failing to maintain a safe distance.

Officials said the system operates without human intervention and provides continuous updates on monitored vehicles and recorded offences. It also compiles data by hour, day and year to help authorities evaluate driver compliance and improve traffic planning.

The AI-driven platform aims to enhance road safety and support faster emergency responses through real-time monitoring and analytics.
