Dubai announces new floating bridge and night beach

Dubai authorities announced a new floating pedestrian bridge to connect Al Mamzar Beach's two sides. The 200-meter bridge, a first in Dubai, was revealed on Monday, June 3. Deira will also introduce its first 24/7 night beach as part of the same initiative.

The urban planning committee awarded contracts for the Dh355-million project, which will enhance 4.3 kilometers of Al Mamzar Beach and 1.4 kilometers of Jumeirah 1 Beach. Completion is expected in 18 months, with partial closures during development.

The upgrades include 11 kilometers of bike and running tracks, a 5-kilometer walkway, barbecue areas, fitness zones, children's play areas, beach rest houses and seasonal event spaces. The beaches will feature 1,400 parking spots, an automatic irrigation system, safety deposit boxes, WiFi, electronic screens, beach rescue services and 100 security cameras linked to control rooms.

Authorities also announced 50 investment opportunities, including water activities leasing, commercial kiosks, restaurants, self-service machines, advertising spaces, beach seating and umbrellas. This project aligns with Dubai's plan to expand its coastline by 400%, increasing public beaches from 21 to 105 kilometers. The city has eight public beaches, including Khor Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1.
