Debris in Abu Dhabi’s Al Shawamekh leaves one injured

Authorities in Abu Dhabi responded to falling debris in the Al Shawamekh area following the interception of a ballistic missile by air defence systems, officials said.

According to a statement from the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the incident led to a minor injury to an Indian national. Emergency teams attended the site and addressed the situation.


Residents were urged to rely on official sources for accurate updates and to refrain from circulating rumours or unverified information.

In a separate statement, the Ministry of Defence said UAE air defence systems engaged four ballistic missiles and 25 drones on March 22. Since the start of the escalation, the ministry said forces have intercepted 345 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,773 drones.

The ministry added that two members of the armed forces were killed while on duty and confirmed six civilian fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi and Palestinian nationalities. 

Officials said air defence units remain on alert to address further threats.
