Abu Dhabi Govt Games, officials promote fitness in Ramadan

Abu Dhabi: The second edition of the Abu Dhabi Government Games is currently underway during Ramadan until March 28 at Abu Dhabi Sports Hub, Al Forsan Club and Hudayriyat Island. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and supported by the Department of Government Support, the event aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle among government employees.

The tournament sees the participation of dozens of Abu Dhabi government entities and celebrates Ramadan while focusing on boosting employees’ morale, interpersonal relations and professional and personal development. Moreover, the competitions aim to positively impact participants' health within an atmosphere that fosters teamwork.

The event features a variety of games, including football, archery, padel, fitness, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, chess, badminton, running and cycling. Additionally, a women’s cycling race is scheduled to take place on March 26 at Yas Marina Circuit.

Participating teams from government agencies engage in daily competitions from 9 pm to 2 am, demonstrating their dedication to health and fitness during the holy month of Ramadan.

Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, expressed satisfaction with the significant interest shown by government agencies in participating in the tournament.

“The goals of adopting a healthy lifestyle at all physical, mental and social levels are paramount, and the tournament serves as a platform for employees to compete alongside their colleagues in various events, fostering a unique social atmosphere that enhances their quality of life index,” Al Awani said.

The tournament during Ramadan aims to play a crucial role in promoting health, fitness and teamwork among government employees, reflecting the commitment of Abu Dhabi authorities to employee well-being and community engagement.
