Abu Dhabi establishes committee on housing grants for UAE nationals

Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA) has announced the establishment of a new committee to oversee housing grant conveyancing for UAE Nationals. The committee, set up to manage requests related to property transfers, will exclusively handle grants issued under legislation predating October 2, 2018, for transactions among UAE citizens.

Accepting requests from May 6 until July 31 at the ISKAN Abu Dhabi Center, the committee aims to address pre-2018 cases by approved regulations, prioritising public interest. Requests must include the relevant contract of sale or exchange and official proof of financial transactions during conveyancing.

In the conveyance of housing grants through sale and purchase, citizens must own residential land or a suitable alternative within the emirate, commit to not selling it, and register it in the Real Estate Register as a housing grant. Simultaneous claims for other residential land or housing grants, or home purchase loans, are prohibited. Additionally, written spousal consent is required.

"The formation of a committee to decide on requests concerning the conveyance of housing grants comes in line with the goals of the Abu Dhabi government to ensure the achievement of public interest," said Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority.
