Riyadh: Sheybarah Resort, located on the uninhabited Shaybara Island in Saudi Arabia, is set to open to the public by 2024. Its videos and pictures have been released online. And netizens are mesmerised by the futuristic design.
The space-age orbs seen in the photographs are the first batch of 73 overwater villas. They are built off-site by Grankraft and transported from the UAE to Saudi Arabia by Mammoet Global, tweeted the CEO of the Red Sea Development John Pagano. Red Sea Global also tweeted a video of the villas. Starting with a bird's eye view of the stunning island, it shows off the construction site which is a mix of land and water.
Envisioned by Killa Design, the resort has futuristic orbs that will float on the water and offer a view of the coral reef below the waterline. The Sheybarah Hotel is a 73-room hyper-luxury resort. Visitors will need to take a 45-minute ride from Saudi Arabia to reach the uninhabited island.
The hyper-luxury resort is located in the southern part of the island and guests will get to enjoy a 45-minute seaplane ride from The Red Sea Airport. From there, driverless buggies are going to take them to the inner lagoon where the lobby and dining restaurant are. The island has coral reef eater villas, beach villas, lagoon villas, a signature restaurant, and a spa.
The whole property is futuristic in terms of energy supply as well because it is an off-grid, zero-energy, and zero-water development. A centralised solar farm is set to power the establishment. A solar-powered desalination plant will provide fresh water.
Located 500 km north of Jeddah, the island has a diverse environment with mangroves, white sand, dune peaches, and pristine coral reefs. The water is home to many species of fish and other marine animals. Visitors are to receive several unique opportunities ranging from mountain retreats to desert adventures.
