Saudi Water Week lays groundwork for Riyadh World Water Forum 2027

Saudi Water Week has concluded its first edition in Jeddah, drawing wide international participation and setting the groundwork for the 11th World Water Forum, which Riyadh will host in 2027.

The event brought together representatives from more than 80 countries, 20 ministerial delegations, over 2,500 participants and 180 international expert speakers.

Over the course of the week, the program featured 97 specialised sessions and events, along with 20 pavilions showcasing work across the water sector.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture said the event helped establish an international roadmap for the “Road to Riyadh 2027”, leading up to the World Water Forum in the Saudi capital.

The forum will focus on shaping water solutions through dialogue, knowledge-sharing and partnerships.

According to the ministry, Saudi Water Week provided a platform for decision-makers, experts and partners from Saudi Arabia, the Arab region and other parts of the world to discuss major challenges facing the sector.

Discussions covered water security, sustainability, water waste efficiency and future opportunities to strengthen resource management.

The event also hosted consultative meetings for the 11th World Water Forum and the 7th Arab Water Forum.

Panel discussions and workshops focused on water security and governance, financing and innovation, integrated water resources management and youth engagement.

The ministry said the outcomes represent an important step in Saudi Arabia’s preparations to host the World Water Forum, moving discussions from ideas towards joint implementation.

Saudi Water Week also combined the Second Stakeholders Consultative Meeting of the World Water Forum, the 7th Arab Water Forum and an exhibition of the Saudi water sector under one program.

The ministry said this format strengthened political and technical dialogue through bilateral and multilateral meetings and helped turn proposals into clearer strategic directions.

Officials said the event received strong engagement and positive feedback from participants, reflecting the level of organisation and the growing role of Saudi Arabia in international water-sector discussions.
