Saudi authorities warn of thunderstorms, hail across the Kingdom until Sunday

The Saudi Civil Defense has issued a warning for thunderstorms across the Kingdom, which are expected to last until Sunday. As Saudi Arabia transitions into cooler autumn weather, the authorities have advised the public to avoid areas prone to flooding, refrain from swimming in open water and adhere to instructions shared via social media channels.

Heavy rainfall is anticipated in the Makkah region, where there is a risk of torrential downpours, hail, and strong winds. The Baha, Asir and Jazan regions are also forecasted to experience moderate-to-heavy rain. In contrast, Najran and Madinah may see lighter precipitation ranging from drizzle to moderate rain.

Autumn officially began on September 1st in Saudi Arabia, a season known for its rainy conditions and rapid weather fluctuations. While the cooler weather provides a respite from the heat, temperatures are expected to remain elevated until mid-month, with significant variations in temperature anticipated. The National Center for Meteorology notes that these seasonal changes are typical for the region.
