Saudi Arabia becomes regional leader in govt AI services

Saudi Arabia recorded a leading regional position in the Oxford Insights Government AI Readiness Index 2025, according to a statement released by the Saudi Press Agency. The Kingdom ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa, reflecting advances made in using artificial intelligence within public-sector operations.

The index reviews the readiness of 195 governments to use AI in policymaking and service delivery, measuring areas such as governance systems, infrastructure strength and institutional capability. The latest results place Saudi Arabia seventh worldwide in the governance category and ninth in public-sector AI adoption, signalling progress in both regulatory planning and real-world deployment.

Officials say the rankings indicate ongoing efforts to apply technology in ways that improve services, support economic goals and align with national plans set out under Vision 2030. The report comes at a time when several government sectors are increasing investment in digital tools and expanding programs focused on responsible use of emerging technologies.
