Riyadh: The Embassy of India in Riyadh, in collaboration with the Saudi Yoga Committee and the Ministry of Sports, Saudi Arabia, celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2024 on June 21 at Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Olympic Complex. The theme was “Yoga for Self and Society.”
Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, the Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, emphasised the health benefits of Yoga and its importance in daily life for individuals and society. The event featured notable attendees, including Ms. Nouf Al Marwai, President of the Saudi Yoga Committee and Padma Shri awardee and Ms. Rajashree Choudhary, President of the International Yoga Sports Federation.
The celebration began with a Yoga prayer, followed by a demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol led by Ms. Alhanouf Saad from the Saudi Yoga Committee. The event also included Pranayamam and Meditation exercises.
Participants included Indian Embassy officials and their families, members of the diplomatic community, the Indian community, school students and teachers from various schools in Saudi Arabia, Saudi nationals, and other invited nationalities. Officials from the Saudi Ministry of Sports and Tourism also attended.
Dr. Khan distributed mementoes to the chief guests, Yoga instructors and the medical support team, marking the event's conclusion.
