Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued a royal decree establishing an Artificial Intelligence Special Zone in Muscat.
Under Royal Decree No. 50/2026, the zone will be set up within a designated area in the governorate, as outlined in an attached site plan.
The decree assigns the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones responsibility for appointing an entity to manage, operate and develop the zone in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
Projects within the zone will receive incentives, exemptions and privileges in line with provisions set out in Royal Decree No. 38/2025 governing special economic zones and free zones.
The decree states that it will be published in the Official Gazette and will come into force the day after publication.
