Muscat: Ongoing rainfall of varying intensity continues to affect parts of Oman, particularly in the Dhofar Governorate, with the flow of valleys and reefs impacting coastal and desert areas.
According to the latest update from Oman meteorology, rainy clouds are flowing over several governorates, including Al-Buraimi, Al-Dhahirah, Musandam, North Al-Batinah, South Al-Batinah, Muscat and Al-Wusta.
The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a weather alert forecasting heavy rains, thundershowers and associated risks in several governorates. Heavy thundershowers, accompanied by active downdrafts, fresh winds and hail, are expected on Thursday from mid-day until night over Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahira, Al Dakhylia, North Al Sharqiya, Muscat and Dhofar. Precipitation ranging from 20 to 80 mm may lead to flash floods, emphasizing the potential dangers posed by adverse weather conditions.
The Civil Aviation Authority advises all residents and travellers to take precautionary measures during thundershowers. It is recommended not to cross Wadis (Flash Flood) and avoid low-lying areas. Additionally, individuals are urged not to sail during the alert period to ensure their safety and minimize the risks associated with the inclement weather.
